Get 50% off barista-made coffee, up to 5 times per day, with Club Pret for just £5 per month. Sounds good, but is it really worth it?

If you’re a regular Pret customer then you’ve probably seen staff asking whether you’re a Club Pret member. But is the subscription actually worth paying for or is it just another monthly expense? Keep reading to find out whether Club Pret can actually save you money.
What is Club Pret?
Club Pret is Pret’s monthly subscription service that gives members 50% off up to 5 barista-made drinks per day. This includes hot drinks like lattes, cappuccinos and americanos as well as iced coffees, frappes and matchas.
The scheme replaced Pret’s original coffee subscription which offered subscribers up to 5 drinks per day for a fixed monthly fee. The current version is a lot simpler. Instead of getting free drinks, you get 50% off eligible drinks every time you order.
Currently Club Pret costs £5 per month.
How can I join?
Joining Club Pret is pretty straightforward. Simply download the Pret app, create an account and sign up for the subscription.
Your membership is linked to the QR code in your app. When ordering in store, scan your app before paying and the discount will automatically be applied to eligible drinks.
You can also manage your subscription directly through the app, including cancelling if you decide it’s not for you.
What drinks are included?
Most barista-made drinks qualify for the 50% discount, including:
- Americanos
- Lattes
- Cappuccinos
- Flat Whites
- Mochas
- Hot Chocolates
- Matchas
- Iced Coffees
The discount doesn’t apply to blended drinks like frappes or smoothies. You also can’t get bottled drinks, canned drinks or products from the retail fridge discounted through the scheme either.
As always, it’s worth checking the latest terms and conditions in case Pret updates the list of eligible drinks.
How much is the discount actually worth?
Let’s take a look at the maths and see how much value you can actually get from Club Pret.
The subscription costs £5 per month.
A regular Pret Americano costs around £3.60. With Club Pret, you’d pay £1.80 instead, saving £1.80 per drink.
That means you’d only need to buy 3 Americanos per month to cover the cost of the subscription.
If you’re buying larger drinks or more expensive options like matchas and frappes, you’ll break even even quicker. A £4.50 drink would save you £2.25 each time, meaning just over 2 drinks would cover your monthly fee.
Now let’s assume you’re a fairly regular customer and buy 3 coffees per week at £4 each.
Without Club Pret:
- 12 drinks per month
- £48 spent
With Club Pret:
- £24 spent on drinks
- £5 subscription fee
- £29 total
That’s a saving of £19 per month.
If you’re grabbing coffee several times a week then the savings can add up surprisingly quickly.
What if I max it out?
Now you’re talking my language! We’ll get onto the limitations later in this post but spoiler alert you are limited to 5 drinks per day with Club Pret.
But what is the value of the discount if you max out the discount. Let’s have a quick nosey…
Again let’s assume you spend £4 on average per drink.
Without Club Pret:
- 5 drinks per day = 150 drinks per month
- £600 spent
With Club Pret:
- £300 spent on drinks
- plus £5 subscription fee
- £305 total spend
That’s up to a total savings of £295 per month if you were to max out the discount on offer, spending £4 on average per drink.
Do I earn Pret Perks stars on Club Pret drinks?
No. Unfortunately discounted drinks purchased through Club Pret don’t earn Pret Perks stars.
However, your Club Pret subscription renewal may earn stars towards Pret Perks rewards. Pret has changed the number of stars awarded a few times, so it’s worth checking the app for the latest details. Currently this is set at 2 stars per month.
You can still earn Pret Perks stars on qualifying purchases made alongside your drink, provided they meet the minimum spend requirements.
Club Pret vs Pret Perks
It’s easy to confuse Club Pret and Pret Perks because both live inside the Pret app, but they’re actually two completely different schemes.
Pret Perks is Pret’s free loyalty programme. You collect stars on qualifying purchases and unlock the occasional free bakery treat after 10 stars. Think of it like a digital coffee shop stamp card.
Club Pret on the other hand is a paid subscription service. Instead of earning rewards over time, you pay £5 per month upfront to get 50% off barista-made drinks.
The two schemes technically work together, but they reward customers in different ways.
Here’s a quick comparison:
| Feature | Pret Perks | Club Pret |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free | £5 per month |
| Main benefit | Earn treats | 50% off drinks |
| Rewards style | Loyalty points/stars | Instant discount |
| Drinks included? | No free drinks usually | Yes |
| Best for | Occasional customers | Regular coffee drinkers |
| Reward flexibility | Limited | Immediate savings |
If you only visit Pret every now and again, Pret Perks is a nice little bonus and there’s no reason not to join.
But if you’re buying coffee multiple times per week, Club Pret is where the real savings are. The subscription can easily pay for itself after just a few drinks each month.
Realistically, the best setup is probably using both together. Use Club Pret to cut the cost of your coffees and Pret Perks to occasionally pick up a free pastry or snack alongside them.
Are there any limits?
Yes. While the discount is generous, there are a few restrictions.
Club Pret members can claim the discount on up to 5 drinks per day.
There must also be a waiting period between drinks, meaning you can’t simply order all 5 drinks at once. The current waiting period is 30 minutes.
For most customers this won’t be an issue, but it’s worth being aware of if you were planning on buying drinks for friends or colleagues.
Any extra benefits?
Club Pret is mainly focused on drink discounts rather than offering a wider range of perks.
Unlike some subscription schemes, there aren’t different membership tiers or bonus rewards for long-term subscribers.
The main benefit is simply saving money on your coffee habit.
That said, Club Pret works quite nicely alongside Pret Perks. You can use Club Pret to reduce the cost of your drinks while still collecting stars on qualifying food purchases.
How do I cancel?
One of the good things about Club Pret is that there isn’t a long-term commitment.
You can cancel your subscription through the Pret app at any time and your membership will remain active until the end of your current billing period.
If you’re no longer visiting Pret regularly, it’s worth cancelling rather than paying for a subscription you’re not using.
Is Club Pret worth it?
For regular Pret customers, yes, Club Pret is probably worth it.
The maths is pretty simple. If you’re buying more than a couple of barista-made drinks each month then you’ll likely save more than the £5 subscription fee.
The value becomes even better if you’re buying coffee multiple times per week. At that point the savings can easily reach £15-£30 per month depending on your drink choices.
However, if you only visit Pret occasionally then the subscription probably isn’t worth bothering with. You’ll need to use it consistently to justify the monthly cost.
Ultimately Club Pret isn’t a complicated rewards scheme. It’s simply a way to make your coffee habit a little cheaper. And if you’re already buying Pret coffee regularly, that’s not a bad deal.
